breastmilk in bottle

I feel like this is such a stupid question, but what is the difference between bottlefeeding with breast milk inside and breast feeding? Is there a way to do both? Ive heard of breastfeeding bottles but I dont exactly understand what purpose those play compared to just a regular bottle.

I never switched nipples.  I used the slow release nipples the entire time.  Those are interchangeable but I do believe the bottles are the same.

Your input has really helped me a lot! Thanks so much! Ill make sure to talk to my dr though about what shes heard, but to hear someone elses experience on the situation really helps! Im just worried ill breastfeed him too much and then he wont want the bottle is all. Ill probably talk to my dr about what you did and just start him out early with switching back and forth. Thanks again for everything :)

There is a difference some are slow release so it's similar to the work they would put in to receive breast milk. because regular bottles are easier babies like them more and dont want to breastfeed anymore since its harder work.

With my first baby, he took his first bottle on day three hone from the hospital.  And I nursed a good amount and he had maybe 2 bottles a day of breast milk and I did supplement with formula when I was having some difficulty.  He just went back and forth no problem.

My second son, not so much.  I nursed him exclusively in the beginning and tried a bottle after a month.  He would not take it.  he NEVER ended up taking a bottle.  It was a little rough. He'd choose to not eat if he couldn't have me.  I was a stay at home mom so made it work but it was hard.

My doctor, however, says that three months of just the breast is good and then introduce the bottle.

My son never had nipple confusion.  The thought on that is that if drinking from a bottle is easier, they'll stop wanting to drink from the breast.  My experience was actually kind of the opposite.

So, your doctor will give you some good advice on this as well.  That is great, by the way, that you are breastfeeding!

How early did you start going back and forth with breastfeeding to breast milk in a bottle? I really dont want to give him formula, so im really hoping to put breast milk in a bottle fot him when I am not home. If I could go back and forth, I would absolutely love too but ive heard you really have to balance the breastfeeding with the bottle feeding. Is that how it was for you?

I really don't think there is a difference.  Again, my pump came with bottles that were actually kind of small and worked well when my babies were newborns.  But when they are up to chugging down 4 or so ounces, I just used my regular bottles.

One other thing I thought I'd mention is that pediatricians often recommend to not use a bottle at all for the first three weeks to prevent 'nipple' confusion.  I will tell you that with my kids except for my second, I did go back and forth between breast and bottle with no issue. But with my second, I didn't try the bottle until he was over a month and he wouldn't take it and only would use the breast.

But that is just my experience.  good luck

Hi there.  Well, that is awesome you are already starting to think ahead about nursing.

Basically, many women will express or pump breast milk and put it into bottles so that their baby still gets that nourishing breast milk but have the convenience of a bottle.  They might want to do that if their baby has trouble latching onto the breast or if they have to be gone for a period of time and the baby still needs to eat like if they go to work or whatever takes them away for a while or if dad wants a turn to feed.  :>)

The bottles for breast milk can be the same that a woman might use for formula but some pumps come with bottles and women use those.  I used the same bottles I would use when I had to give formula for my pumped milk.

So, nursing is a wonderful experience where the baby takes the milk straight from the breast----  but bottles with expressed breast milk in them so the baby gets that same nourishment is handy at times too.

Does that answer your question?

I think its more about the bond between you and you baby as breastfeeding is skin to skin but you can pump into a bottle and it is just as good.
