Hello,

Sounds like you understand the menstrual cycle well and are appropriately concerned.  There's not much to do but wait and see what happens.  If she doesn't have her next period she should take a home pregnancy test.  If negative, repeat it in one week.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing

Just wanted to give you some facts (not wanting to scare you even more).  Sperm can live up to 5 (and even 7) days in a woman's body depending on the sperm and the acidity of the woman's body (but I read sperm only lasts up to 6 hours in a woman's vagina).  On average it only lasts 3 days though.  It takes about a week for birth control pills to become affective (but they are only about 98% affective).  Because she went and doubled up you guys should be fine but if her period is late, take a home pregnancy test (HPT) just to be sure.  It would be a good idea to keep a box of condoms around just in case this happens again.
