carpal tunnel syndrome

Im 28 weeks and my wrists and thumbs are getting the best of me. I can't wash dishes or do some daily activities. It so bad I cant even wipe my behind. My fiance and mom has to help with that or bathing. the dr said put wrist splint on and I put them on both my wrist but it didn't alleviate any pain. He said it should go away after the baby comes. But im still scared.

Unfortunately I don't think there is much they can do, I was told about the arm splints but luckily I haven't needed them.
I'm due very soon, but you still have a while to go poor thing. Perhaps ask about pain relief or see if over the counter paracetamol helps.. you can safely take it during pregnancy. Surely there is something they can do!

Thats how it started it was only in the morning with the numbness so I thought I slept on it. And I would shake it out and through out the day I would be fine. But it got to the point where it constant. I brought it up my last two visits and they didn't seem concern

I have experienced carpal tunnel syndrome with my pregnancy too.. its been for the last few months, but no where near as bad as yours sounds! Poor thing!
Mine is worse early morning/night.. I've got weakness in my arms, numb finger tips and my middle finger and thumb are especially painful and often get stuck when I bend them.Luckily I haven't needed splints.

I too have been told it goes away after bub is born, but sometimes it can take a while :(
Is there no pain relief meds that your doctor can perscribe? Or maybe exercises to help reduce the pressure on the nerve?
