castor oil

I hate to be a downer but I don't understand why anyone would want to take that risk. I personally don't think anyone should try to make baby come before baby wants to. Self induction to me is pointless and too risky. I understand that at the end of your pregnancy your tired of it and want baby out. I'm right there with you all But I'd rather wait and have my baby come when she's ready her own way. If I go over then my doctor can decide what to do about her. I just don't see why any one wants to rush it. Especially those that planned a baby. But anyway open to opinions. Just thought I'd bring it up. I know what I feel won't change anyone's minds about what they plan to do

Maybe attitudes are a cultural thing. Circumcision is a good example. It isn't common practice in Australia and you'd struggle to find somewhere to do it here so its not something we even thought about when we had our son. But I know there are a lot of conversations on here about it so its obviously still important in other parts of the world.

Circumcision is no longer considered "general practice" so should my son suffer because it's not something practiced regularly anymore?

Yeah and not really relying strictly on Google. I think to many people think because that one page on the internet said it's ok to do means that nothing horrible can happen

Yes it is about research but recent research. People need to stop looking for the one article from 20yrs ago that agrees with what they want. Lets face it, if some of these methods were really safe they would be considered general practice by the medical community, not just an occasional midwife or dr here and there.

As long as you don't take too much and stay hydrated it's really not harmful! It's those that go overboard and misuse it that have troubles! People don't do all their research they read these horror stories and leave it at that but now days eating a French fry from mcdonalds can be deadly! Everything in life comes with risks but when you do your research and take nessasary precautions you will be fine. The doctor told me at 37weeks I was free to start naturally trying to induce most of these things we do actually helps our bodies during labor even if they don't start our labor it's all about the research!

I agree with you. I think its just a case of old habits die hard. Now we know better we do better but it takes a while for the general opinion of the overall population to change.

Yeah. There's to many self induction things that can cause to much harm to the baby. I refuse to even do the primrose oil. I figure my daughter will either be here within the next 7 week's or so when she wants to be.

I don't like seeing the one about castor oil when I read a mom's story of how her baby died from her doing it really hurt that people still try it knowing the risk
