With our first son we did because they did it in the hospital. With our second son they made us wait until he was a month old. I took him to the drs office and they took him into another room. I could hear him screaming. When they brought him back to us he was still crying and he didn't even want to be in his carseat. He would cry in a panic everytime I laid him on his back. For 4 days straight I had to hold him constantly to my chest because he would panic and cry everytime I laid him down. My husband was like never again. With our 3rd son we did not have it done because of the negative impact the procedure left on my son. My first was fine. But the second was a nightmare. Circumcizing prevents the same infection as proper cleaning would. I simply pull my youngest sons skin back a gently clean it with soap and water.  It truly is a personal choice but after that bad experience I will never do it again.

I just don't have the heart to let my baby go through that if its a boy. Even on a circumcised baby you have to pull the skin down to clean it.

My son had it done the day after he was born...my hubby went with him and the nurse said he took it like a champ lol I would definitely reccommend getting it done right away if you do get him snipped...my son healed within a week and didn't really fuss over it. It would break my heart if we would have had to wait and than have a traumatized baby :(

I got my son done at 1 day old..if you do decide to get it done i recommend the plastibel (sp?) They do it and put s ring on it to heal..when the ring comes off its healed..no Vaseline no real care just rinse it with some warm water every once in a while. And your not supposed to pull the skin back..it can make it grow closed..my little brother had that happen when he was 6, because they pulled the shin back to clean it

I have heard of and personally know some people who didn't get circumcised and years later had horrible problems and one person I knew had to get it done at like 9 yes old cause his hole started growing closed as his thing grew made him in horrible pain.....my sob got it at a day old in the hospital and never realised really......if I ever had another boy I would absolutely do it again

I am having my sons done! And ppl are saying that u still have to pull skin back but u gotta think about years from now.. all that excess skin! And ur son does have to wash himself on his own eventually.. wat if he doesnt clean it good n gets an infection? Best to get it done at the hospital when he is not gonna remember it or be tramatized

My nephew got his done at 8 because he didn't clean it properly (although he had been told MANY times the importance of cleaning it), and he was sore for quite a while, that's the main reason I got my sons.

Personally we got our sons done mostly because my husband had to have his done while I was pregnant and he insisted on it for that reason but we also no way to many people who have had to have it done as adults so it just seems better to have it done at birth

Dont agree with it unless it is nesassary, not just to keep it clean, i have two sons 9 and 7 never had any problems, they dont do it in the uk just for cleanliness, they only do it for medical reason, as for doing it after they are born is just wrong in my shes, but each to their own
