confused on fertility after birth

So they say you are extremely fertile the first few weeks after giving birth, but also that you don't ovulate or have a cycle for months or even a year later if breastfeeding. So if someone can explain this that would be great

You can still ovulate even without actually having a period.

Just because you arent bleeding doesnt mean your body is not cycling still. It can still receive sperm and sperm travels.

I didn't breastfeed, but I got my first period when my daughter was a month old. And using breast feeding as a "birth control" is NOT a good idea. Because you can still ovulate and have a period while breastfeeding.

Have no idea and this is second pregnancy. I know it's true about the cycles though. I breast fed for a year. I do know of alot of people who don't use protection and get pregnant like right after having their baby. Like within the next few months. I know its possible. Ask your doctor.
