I'm really bad with needles too its not that they hurt the idea of it peircing my skin and being in my veins etc freaks me out wayyy to much.
When I went to get my blood work done at twelve weeks I puked on the guy drawing blood. It literally just shot out- lol
but I've had epidural for c section as I wanted to be awake and ill be honest - its absolutely fine !
A blood test is worse! ...
I was shaking and puking and a nurse got me to cuddle squeeze a big pillow and she cuddled me and the epidural guy who btw was called steve put it in. I felt something like cold water run down my back and then he said "are you ok?" & I said yes just
Feckin do it. .. and yano wat he said ......
Its already done darling!
Hadn't felt a thing.
I've no memory of having it removed :/
Once u feel contractions that epidural won't be a big deal at all and u will never see the needle and u will be begging for it cause ur pain will be that bad! I used to have a fear on needles but after my first daughter with all the blood test and the Iv for the fluids and everything else that came with it I'm a pro now! U will be ok! Maybe start with the Iv meds to relax u till ur comfortable with the epidural! This time for me I'm getting all the meds i can!
I understand your fear of needles because i was the same way to the point where i used to cry if my dr told me i had to give my blood or something and my husband would laugh at me because i would cry and get al sweaty lol but me feeling the terrible pain of contractions i didnt care what they did to me because it didnt hurt as much as my contractions.i dont really tolerate stomach pain well it makes me cry to. So when i was in labor my sons heartrate was dropping with each contraction so i had to have an emergency c section they numbed me and put the big needle in but the meds was to slow so i had to be put to sleep so they could hurry and get baby ouT. Hopes this helps
There is also iv pain med that can get and you could try that before the epidural and see if that would be enough to help you :-) I plan on yhe iv pain meds as a last resort if hot showers, meditation, amd breathing arent enough. I will not have an epidural, i hated it with my son. Amd I have no desire to have a catheter again amd be stuck in bed let alone try to give birth laying on my back. I had a csection with my son so hopong my vbac is successful with this one.
Hmmm ok, thanks moms that made me feel better about it
Hey! Well I had my baby girl almost 3 weeks ago and let me tell you the epidural was the best thing ever lol.. I don't like needles either but they don't show you it.. Contractions were so intense I was pretty much begging him to put it in lol, they numb it with local Anestetic which is just like a small pinch then they give you the epidural which I didn't feel apart from a bit of pressure. Also once it's in you don't even know you have it in there.. Accept when they top it up you can feel the cold liquid going in which i thought felt cool lol.. Good luck mumma it doesn't hurt I promise! Oh and also, if you want it they let you have gas and air while they do it (that just made me feel spacey lol)
Get the petidine injection its not as bad as epidural its smaller and u get it in bum cheek also use gas and air
I just had my son a week ago and the epidural wasnt bad at all. They have you sit on the side of the bed and an anesthesiologist does the needle work. You dont even see what it looks like or see it going in. The medicine works really fast so pain really isnt anything to worry about.
No I haven't but I'll definitely look into that
If you're in the US there aren't many options. Have you thought about trying for a natural birth with hydrotherapy and hypno birthing classes? I hate needles too and that is the route I took.
