Ya I would agree with the person above saying the are trying to set you up with a failure. I was told to not eat anything with natural sugar or added sugar. And I always would eat egg on toast and never failed. My friend are cocoa puffs before hers and failed. So you really shouldnt eat candy or drink soda. Because the glucose test is to see how your body process sugar so if you eat all that stuff and then drink the drink you will have an enormous amount of sugar and you will fail.
I had a bad cold and i had to drink water dr said that was fine. I didn't take any cough medicine or cough drops after midnight but i HAD to drink some water. But don't drink anything else. My friend had to do the 3 hr test bc she kept drinking mountain dew after midnight and on the way there.
I've taken several glucose test (1 hour and 3 hour) thanks to family history of diabetes. And that has never been an instruction, sounds more like setting you up for failure or trying to send you into a diabetic coma before the test.
I'm confused about the candy and soda thing too but he printed out instructions for me and that's #1 on the list. I'm not going to do it though I'm not big on sweets so that sounds horrible to me lol.
I wouldn't do the candy and sugar not only is it horribly unhealthy but it can spike your blood sugar. Usually you can drink water and be fine.
That's an odd request from your doctor to eat candy and drink soda... I was told to eat normal until midnight then I could only have water until my test was over... I also failed the first test but I passed the 3 hour test. Good luck :)
