I'm pregnant with my first and on my side of the family she'll be the 7 grandbaby and my husbands its the first grand baby, his family has been so excited that they are overwhelming me with gifts clothes and everything else I love thatthey want to help us and that they are excited but everything has been about them and what they want, and not listening to what we want when she is born, I'm not sure how to nicely tell them that its not about them its about.us that day any suggestions how to talk to them?

Id love any help lol tell them they can adopt me hahaha my family is non existent and the hubby's fam fights with each other so much they're never worried about anything else :/ i probably wont even have a baby shower to be honest

I'm not sure this is something to be upset or concerned about..? I'd love for my baby to be lavished in items.

Im nearly in the same boat..this will be my familys 3rd grandbaby and my husbands family's first. And he still has his grandparents so the first great grandbaby which im due 2 days after my husbands gpas bday..he is wanting me to obviously go early for his bday. But his stepmom is wanting the baby so bad..and showering with us with gifts..big ones the crib stroller things like that.  Very very greatful but overwhelmed! You just have to lay down the ground rules.  Its your baby!!!

Make a birth plan that doesn't involve a lot of guests, and tell it to the hospital, and they will enforce it.  Your husband should gently explain this to his family.  Don't put it in terms "it's not about you but is about us;" that would be rude, all he has to do is say that you won't be having visitors in the hospital.
