Kegels. And birthing classes and hypnobabies and positive imagery and all that mental stuff. Mostly you have to convince yourself that you can do anything, that you're strong and capable and totally able to manage what women have been doing for the whole of humanity, and that it will be an awesome and amazing experience. You know that old thing about if you tell yourself something enough times you'll believe it? That's how I managed to not only survive but enjoy the natural birth of my first.
