gender scan question!

I'm 15 weeks and 4 days and I know that they usually do the gender scan at 18-20 weeks...BUT my dad is dying. He goes into surgery on Thursday and only has a 50% chance of making it. If he does make it the surgery will only make him more comfortable as he dies from kidney cancer. They said he may have less than 2 months even with the surgery...so my question is,do you think that I could talk them into trying to see the gender early, so that my father can at least know the gender of his grandbaby before anything happens to him? I'd love for him to be able to call his grandchild by their name at least for a while before we lose him...thanks in advance..

You can pay companies to do it for you if your doctor won't. There are outside places and the cost depends on the company, but I think a lot of them are like $60-$80. I'm so, so sorry about your father.

The only way I know for you to find out what it is this early , is if you get a 3d scan because a regular scan isn't most accurate until 18-20 weeks. The only problem is if you have insurance they aren't gonna cover the 3d scan. But it's best if you discuss all of this with your doctor first.

Ask for a blood test I'm not sure how long it takes though, and also check with your insurance to see if it'll cover a 3D. I hope you find out! So sorry about your father

I am only 16 weeks and I plan on going to stork vision before my 20 weeks. idk if there is one near you but I think they can tell on their 3d 4d scans as early as 15wks.

sorry to hear about your dad! I doubt the hospital will change your scan date or give you an extra scan before the 20 week one however you could book a private scan. I booked a private scan for 16 weeks 1 day, it cost me £79 and I found out I was having a girl. The hospital also confirmed at the 20 week scan that it was a girl too :) so you could look into booking one privately, I think that's the best idea :)
