gestational diabetes

I an 24 weeks and 3 days.  I failed my first glucose test and now i did the three hire one and Dr just called and said i failed it too. Now I'm having to go to get my blood drawn twice a week and they put me on a diet where i can barely eat anything. Is there anyone else that is going through this or had it I the past? If so how long did you have to get the twice a week blood draws and did diet alone help or did they give you pills or insulin shots. also does anyone have any good ideas for meals? Thanks

Why are you having blood drawn twice a week???  I have gd and I only test once a day now because my levels are fine. I think I failed the test because I had a soft drink the night before since no one told me to fast. Idrink crystal light lemonade daily and no pop and eat what I usually did and my levels are just fine.

I have it now also. I take insulin 4 times a day. I watch what I eat and eat in small portions. Im 5 months and haven't really gained weight but baby is growing good. It's not a bad thing because it will change your eating habits for the future. Good luck to you.

I have GD right now.  I take my blood sugar at 4 times a day and I take insulin at bed timethat's only because my fasting sugar is high. The diet isn't that bad chicken fish meat will be your best friend also veggies and fruits in moderation it's really not that bad.  salads eggs are great also. you'll notice by the end of your pregnancy if you haven't lost some weight then you'll just feel so great.

I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy. They sent me home with a book of meal plans (great selections) a meter and strips and a log chart. I had to check my blood before eating in the morning, and then every 4 hours after that. I had to record all of my logs down. Hope things get better! Good luck hun!
