getting a tattoo?

Question for you ladies, do you guys know if it's bad to get a tattoo when pregnant? Any risks to getting it done? I'm due in less than 3 weeks and I know I can wait, but I was curious what if I would get it before my due date.

My consent forms just have check boxes of things and pregnancy is on there but not breastfeeding! The ink molecules from tattoo ink is too large to pass into the breastmilk and the only thing that could potentially harm While breastfeeding is infection but any tattoo shop that sterilizes their equipment and shows you the proper way for after-care of your tattoo it no longer falls on them if something were to happen. If you're skin is sensitive and prone to infection easily it'd be best not to get one while breastfeeding but I knew my body and I never get infections and I've been going to the same tattoo shop for years and trusted them and my son is almost 4 months perfectly fine! Again, use your own discretion but it hasn't been shown to be a risk to the baby while breastfeeding

I got a tattoo before I found out I was pregnant, my skin was so sensitive I was literally crying and normally I'm easy to tattoo

Lol ya the first question on the waiver form where I go is "Are you currently pregnant or breastfeeding?" I guess you could lie about it though.

True but if the doctor okays it then you really don't have to mention it to the tattoo artist. I mean at least the shops around Minnesota have a consent form and breastfeeding is not apart of that. But like I said before everyone is different, every doctor and tattoo artist/shop. There is no evidence in tattoos harming the fetus while pregnant (but it's not studied enough so they don't recommend it) and there's no evidence in tattoos harming breastmilk BUT every person to their own discretion. It's always worth asking if you seriously want to get one done once the baby is here, it doesn't hurt (:

Oh. Well I wouldn't have if my doctor didn't say it was okay. But everyone is different (: just check with your doctor about breastfeeding and tattoos but definitely not while you're pregnant! Goodluck (:

My artists won't even if you're breastfeeding. They won't take any chances.

You can't get a tattoo while pregnant and no tattoo place would allow that.. But you can get one while breastfeeding, I got mine a week after I had my son and checked with my doctor and the tattoo artist before having it done and was confirmed by both that it's fine! They just worry about infection while pregnant so definitely wait

Tattoo artists can be charged and given jail time if they tattoo you. I had a friend a few years back who did one and he got 6 months in jail it's not fair to the tattoo artist to put him/her at risk

Nope. No reputable artist will tattoo you if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Like you said you only have a few weeks left...

I got a tattoo while pregnant but i didn't kno the risks whenever i was getting it nobody told me but my baby is just fine but still i wouldn't take the risk especially if ur tht close because if i would have known then i probably wouldn't have done it but they say tht it can make ur body go in shock for some women if u cnt take the pain also they dnt wanna risk it bein a dirty needle or the ink getting to ur baby by going thru ur blood stream and ur skin is alot different now tht ur pregnant so it might not look the same after u have the baby

Tattoo artists will refuse to do a tattoo on a pregnant woman. And you have a risk of getting an infection due to the hormones making your skin really sensitive. The sensitive skin and a needle going into you skin with ink, that really isn't good.

While there is no evidence it harms the baby, the tattoo artist may refuse to tattoo someone if they are pregnant. They have also not done human studies with tattoos on pregnant women. I think their main concern is a woman trying to sue them if their baby is born with defects

The ink gets into your blood stream which can get to the baby so no I would wait
