glucose test

I don't get this test.  I had to do the 3 hour one and it doesn't make sense to me to load someone up with that much sugar to see what their body does.  Wouldn't this cause issues if you ARE diabetic?  I read those drinks have 50 grams of sugar in them and I had to drink 2 drinks.  Ugh...I hate sugary stuff.  But my point is, who is going to consume 100 grams of sugar in a day?  Wouldn't anyone's blood sugar be higher after that?

i've had gestational diabetes in my previous pregnancy and will be tested twice this time, first test came back normal but i need to be tested further along. The drink wont cause harm as a one off but they do need to check how your body reacts to it, its more dangerous not to give the drink and potentially let someone who HAS it go misdiagnosed following no specific diet or care for GD. hope this helps x

If you are a diabetic trust me they wouldn't give it to you. They're only testing for gestational diabetes that only occurs during pregnancy then goes away after the baby. Unlike diabetes which doesn't goes away

hey boogie,
i hear ya, it doesn't make sense to overload someone and then wonder why their blood sugar is high. but its their way of figuring out if you are healthy or not.

It sees how your body reacts to it. Your body should be able to break down the sugar protein in a timely manner. Hope this helps.
