Ok thanks ladies. I have been a worry wart & just wanted some advice.
I was tested at 36 weeks and I have it. My doctor said 25-35% of healthy pregnant women have it. Nothing to worry much about.
I heard that they only give it to you while you're in labor through the IV because the risk of getting it back before labor is very possible so they don't give you a antibiotic before then.
My doctor didn't even test for it until 36 weeks. I thought that's just how it was, but you don't need to do anything about it now. They'll just give you medication during labor
See, I've got a 3 year old & didn't have it with her... I'm curious how we get it...? I plan on having a vaginal delivery & I was told last week to inform the nurses that I have it & they'll give me meds for it. I just didn't know if I should've been taking anything for it during the pregnancy or what. I can't believe I'm 4 weeks from giving birth & just finding out about it.
I have it as well. I did some research on google about it. 25% of all healthy women get this, so 3 in 1. I was told by my OB it has nothing to do with cleanliness because I felt dirty after they told me and I'm a VERY clean person. /: It is found in the vagina, intestines, and rectum. I tested positive for it through urine sample and will have to stay in the hospital for a extra 24 hours for observation. They'll start antibiotics when I go in to have my son so it is not passed to him. My sister had it with her first son, but not her second and then my mother had it with me, but neither of my sisters.
I have it so dont feel alone
I haven't been tested yet but it is pretty common a lot of women have it. They will give you iv antibiotics if you are having a vaginal birth or if you are having a c section you won't need them. It's not really a concern if you get the drugs when needed during birth.
I've got it. It's nothing harmful to us. It just means we're carriers for that strand. It can be harmful for baby if you opt out of the antibiotics when you go into labor though. They can get very sick and getting the antibiotics helps them so much in preventing that. They administer the antibiotics via i.v. method during labor to help baby. If you're having a c section there's nothing to worry about since the baby will not be passing through.
