group b strep test?

I go in for my group b strep test my next appointment I was wondering what exactly that is? And who performs it? I don't have a set doctor, so would it be just some random doctor??? Or is it my widwife?? They didn't really explain it to well to me today.

it has nothing to do with someone who sleeps around or doesn't know who the dad is... maybe you are thinking a parternity test? Some ppl carry it and some don't...

The swab your rectum and vagina its quick u don't realize they do it

I'm 14 wks will b 15 wks tomorrow I have group b strep I was told that it is nothing to worry about it was found in my urine but I will have to have antibiotics before I go in labor but if my water has already broken a possible c-section but u do not get the meds until its time for you to have the baby

Glad you asked about it cause I'm getting mine done too, I'm worried. I heard it's really only for women who sleep around or don't know who the father of their baby is, but I guess it's for all pregnant women.

My drs physicians assistant did it she stuck a big qtip in my vag it took two seconds

I had strep b and passed it to my son during delivery.  He became very sick almost instantly and had to go to nicu. I didnt get to hold him till he was 5 days old... But luckily he recovered qyickly and only spent 10 days in nicu. Strep b is quite serious if passed to ur child. But what They do is swab u to test ya (about 34 to 36 weeks)...and if positive..u will receive antibiotics during labor. Everything works out then..

My doctor did it. All she did was swab the outside of the vagina with a long qtip. Just tests for I think it's a bacteria that some women just can't help having. It doesn't harm you at all and is completely normal but if you don't get antibiotics it can harm baby
