I understand that. It's scary and stressful and a lot to deal with, especially when you're pregnant. Healthcare is expensive and kids cost a lot over time, but you can do it. Your baby is doing well to have 2 parents who want the best for him or her. There are a lot of programs out there to help with little ones. And there are a lot of things that you won't really need. Babies are very resiliant and loving parents are the biggest necessity so dont feel too down about not being able to get all the stuff you'll hear other people talking about. Your baby wont know the difference. Honestly. Breastfeeding or pumping instead of formula saves money and pumps are covered by insurance so that's something else to ask them about. Even if you use formula go online to the websites for Enfamil, Similac, and Gerber to get free samples and coupons. All the diapers companies do that too. Huggies, Pampers, Luvs, seventh generation, and The Honest Company. Sign up for huggies and pampers rewards programs. I haven't looked at Johnson&johnson, but you could check them out too. There are programs to help with car seats and cribs. Ask at your doctor's office or look online. And there are plenty of programs through the state to help with Healthcare, formula, and possibly other things.  I know that's kind of beyond what you were asking about, but hopefully it's still helpful in easing some of your worries.

I'm in the same boat, I'm 19 and me and my boyfriend want our son to have the world... I'll tell you that it does work out in the end (: as long as you strive for helping your child! I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and we have everything set and ready and everything's all figured out!

Typically all of your prenatal care, delivery and hospital stay are covered under you because you are insured. The baby may be covered for the initial check, but usually they are seen every day you're in the hospital and that wouldn't be covered. With a newborn there is usually a time frame, for example 30 days. If you get the baby's insurance covered during that time coverage can start from birth and be retroactively covered. However, if you are on your parents insurance you will probably have to get your baby their own insurance. Grandchildren aren't usually covered or able to be added to grandparents insurance if they are not the legal guardians. That will be up to the company your parent works for.  Now the only way to know exactly what is covered is to call the insurance company. If you are on the policy they will give you information about your benefits. They can tell you what is covered and how much for both you and your baby. You really should call as soon as you can. Like someone else said , the ONLY way to know how your insurance works and what is covered is to call your insurance and ask about your specific policy. I worked for a major health insurance company for years and the biggest mistake you can make is not calling them in advance. I also recommend finding out what options you have for permanent coverage for your baby. I don't know a lot about things like CHIP, but it's probably what I would look at first if you're not eligible for insurance on your own.

But usually on your parents, the baby isn't covered... But that's something you can apply for through the state once your child is born!

The only people that will know is your insurance company unfortunately /: even doctors don't know much about different insurances since they are all so different!! So definitely, if you can... Call the number on the back of the card. Usually they don't bill you anything until after the baby comes! Unless you see a specialist or something like that!

You can still call and get info! You should have your own card through theirs! I'm on my parents too and I called and got all the info!
