how bad is it...

To clean the cats liter box ONE time. My finace does it everyday when he gets home from work, but its over time season so he wont be home for awhile and it HAS to be done asap. We have 2 cats who pee in the floor if the boxes are too full. Like what is it we should be around, something we shouldnt touch or smell? I know its in their poop. Just curious how bad itd be to do it one time.

Put on gloves. Try wrap your face with a bandana,or,something. I honestly don't know enough information, but I know,it's dangerous and considered a risk to the baby: (

Ammonia can be harmful but cover your face and wear gloves. The real risk is contracting toxoplasmosis. Which is food borne but also can be caused by exposure to feces. I have a cat, and scoop the box every couple days. Its not a big deal.

Mysteriousbundleofjoy ammonia is only is cat urine, not fecal matter... Also it is not airborne and as long as you are in a ventilated area (so you don't get light headed) and you wash your hands afterwards or wear gloves you will be fine. The real worry is toxoplasmosis which can be in fecal matter (its not present in all cats especially if they are strictly indoors) however its wisest to be safe.

Yeah my midwife said if you've already done it for a year our so you've probably already developed an immunity to it so baby should be fine. However I would take certain precautions such as washing extra thoroughly after and covering your face.

Shan1214 I can relate, my husband and I have 4 cats! Cleaning the boxes was always my job but thankfully now hubby has taken over (he's more of a nervous wreck than I am lol)

I had to clean the litter box cause my fiance refused. But I looked it up online and I read an article that said they can only have termites for 2 weeks after coming inside and if they never go outside it's a very low risk. Just in case I would put my shirt over my nose and mouth and washed my hands right after
