O/T baby boy has B.O.?

So, last weekend I smelt some funky BO coming from somewhere.  It smelt like a grown man who has been sweating all day.  At first I thought it was me (I shower twice a day and I am not a sweaty person), but it wasn't.  My husband wasn't home couldn't figure it out.  Finally, when I go to get my baby dressed for the day I noticed it was in HIS armpits.  I was shocked.  So, of course I immediatley google it and find some horrible answers (pituitary gland problems, puberty at 9 months old all of these crazy things).  I have been dressing him warm because it has been freezing.  I asked the doctor about it and she said that bacteria gets trapped and that could be causing it or he could still have some hormone in his system from gestation.  She said he is so healthy in every other way she is not concerned.  I wash him really good, make sure he is dry, and have been putting a little baby powder in his armpits (apparantly they don't make deodorant for infants ;)).  I just took his temp (he just had shots so I am keeping an eye on that) and the thermometer smelt (I couldn't help myself I had to see if it was still smelly..lol).  Does anyone elses baby have this? Or do I just have a stinky boy? I am a little worried after seeing all of those google answers!

I would try and bathe him right after his first feeding AND at night.. That's was our routine with Jaxson until he was about 14 months, then I dropped the evening bath.. And now the only "funk" he gets is his feet.. They are always clammy and stinky.. Should be fun when he's a teenager.. NOT!!

It's not the funky neck sour smell it's like grown man BO and strictly in the pits.  I only used the powder once I noticed the BO and it did help temporarily.  I bathe him once a day right before bed.  I do only notice it in the morning after I take him out of his sleeper.  At night I have been doing a light cotten sleeper and his sleep sack, but we keep the heat on... and his hands still feel cold in the AM?  But, I guess I could try a onsie and some socks with the sleep sack and see if that helps?

He has senstive skin so all the wash I use has be be unscented (he gets eczema in little small patches when we use scented Johnson's so I use Aveeno scent free).

How often do your bathe your baby? Jaxson was a chunky monkey too at that age, and we bathed him twice a day.. OR perhaps although it's chilly, he is actually being over dressed? I would try to dress him cooler (unless he of course feels cold) and maybe see if that changes his "funk?" ;)  I am sure it's nothing to worry about.. I swear, I sometimes HATE the internet.. It provides TOO much information sometimes and gets us Moms all in a tizzy!! Best of luck and keep us posted!!

My babies sometimes got a funky smell and I finally realized that they were getting formula down in their necks and after a while it smells really nasty!  I didn't even know any was dribbling, but sure enough, it was collecting in the little fat rolls on their necks. :)

If he's chunky (has chubby arms) and is wearing warm clothes a lot then its probably easier for sweat to get stuck under the armpits regardless of how much you bathe him. Its probably just weird to think about a baby smelling like b.o. but why couldnt they? if they are playing and sweating in their clothes what SHOULD it smell like....u know? I know sometimes babies get smelly necks from milk getting trapped in their neck rolls and other things lol.
I dont really know the answer to this but i dont think u should worry....

if it makes u feel any better my son has stinky feet!! and i bathe him very well all the time too...but u take off his socks and sniff those things and WOO smells sour n gross! Boys are just stinky :)

We never put baby powder on our kid - perhaps a little bit has been left behind somehow under his arm pits...    I don't doubt that you wash your child good, but who knows what could have happened.  Maybe he was having a stinky day!  haha!  Perhaps just try drying him off really good and then putting him in his outfit or sleeper without the baby powder and see how that goes for a few days.  If it disappears then I guess you know there was something trapped in his gritty pitty's... :-)
