Many labs will not call it a positive for pregnancy unless the blood test is 25 mIU or higher. The reason for the retest in 48 hours is to see if the hCG is doubling or not. If it does, it indicates that it is likely viable. If it does not, it can be from a non-viable pregnancy, an Ectopic pregnancy, etc etc.

Oh ok that makes me feel better. My other question is on the lab work it said my hcg quant was 21 and then next to it it said undetermined retest in 48 hours r they sayin I am not pregnant or it could be a 50 50 chance right now. I'm hopin for it to be a healthy pregnancy since this one will be my last and hopin it doesn't end up in another mc

No, it's very normal. Every female will experience this at some point in her lifetime. The body is far from perfect, and can be expected to mess up every now and then.

Thank you guys I've been worried thinking it wasn't showing up in my blood and I was like 12 weeks lol! I found out christmas eve took 3 tests all positive so decided to go get blood work done at the hospital. So I hope they are doubling. Ill know tomorrow when I go back in for another one. And clysta I def think you are right about the not ovulating and that's why I didn't get a af. I'm pretty sure I know when I did ovulate and that would of been about 3 to 4 weeks ago becuz I've never noticed it before and so I asked my doc and she told me that's what it sounded like that I was ovulating. So does it mean there is something wrong with you if u do not ovulate every month or is that normal. Even though I guess it shouldn't really matter since I am pregnant.

Agreed. Hcg levels won't indicate how long you've been pregnant. either there's slow progress or you're very early in your pregnancy. At 14 days after ovulation the number count is considered really good at 50 and above, but mine was 35. The number should at least double every two days to show progress. Keep us informed. Good luck!!

Levels do not tell how far you are--there is a wide range of 'normal' for various weeks. More than likely what happened is you did not ovulate and therefor did not have a period. Then when your body DID ovulate, you had sex and caught the egg in time for it to be fertilized and implant. You would be no further along than 3 weeks or so.
