hydrocodone and pregnancy

I am totally scared right now. I have took hydrocodone a few times will being pregnant. I have not told anyone about this. I only took them a few times for pain I was having in my lower back. The problem is, I am now 33 weeks pregnant and starting to become scared about it. The last time I took them was when I was 31 weeks. Like I said, I was not taking daily. Just every now and then I would take a couple to take away the pain.I don't know what to do. DO they test for it in the baby when it is born. I know that they are out of my system by now but not sure about the babies. My boyfriend does not have a clue about it, so I am kind of scared to talk with me ob about it. Will she keep it confident if I did tell her, and would she look down on me for taking without a prescription. I am so scared. There are no withdrawals for me, but could the baby have them? I know this is a lot of questions, but I really need some advice on what to do. The pills were not prescribed to me. I still have 7-8 weeks left. Please help!

Hydrocodone is safe during pregnancy, that being said, i wouldn't take it without a prescription tho. Your dr should know everything you are taking.

i agree. Talk to your dr about it. If you arnt useing it daily more then likely baby wont have withdrawls. But you should find out if it could have harmful affects on your baby. And they might drug test baby when its born but more then likely it will come up negative if you arnt takeing them anymore. It only takes 24 hrs to get out of your system if you arnt an everyday user. But really talk to your dr. Narcotics are serious drugs that can be very harmful to a baby. and you if you take them to much.

Some hospitals drug test the baby right after birth and some don't. You should talk to your dr though that's what they're there for, not to judge. Baby won't have any withdrawals as long as you actually did only take it a couple times, babies that are born with withdrawals are from moms that take it constantly in the last trimester so your baby is likely fine. Your dr will keep it confidential from your bf if that's what you're worried about
