I had an ectopic pregnancy in January of 2005 and my Dr. told us to wait at least 6 weeks for sex and 2 periods before trying. Well, we didn't try but I got pregnant 3 weeks after my laproscopic surgery. I gave birth to a baby girl 9 months later. Now, this is DEFINITELY not recommended by any Dr. but a successful pregnancy is still possible.
HI!
The standard recommendation is to wait about 3 cycles before you "try" again. I usually do NOT start my patients on birth control during that time though. One thing to consider is an HSG. This is a test in which dye is injected into the uterus to evaluate the other tube. (an xray is taken to see if the tube is open).
I would do this to evaluate how high your risk is for another ectopic pregnancy. If your other tube is damaged, you should strongly consider IVF. If your other tube is fine, you will probably have a pretty good shot at conceiving again.
Good luck!

I had mt F-tube removed in the summer of 2007, and my doctor told me to wait 6 months or until my menses went back to its normal cycle, hopefully this helps you...
