Talk it over with him n maybe give it a try your self learn the language with your baby it could be fun n a good bonding experience. My father is spanish n wen he was teaching us my mom learnd too n she really enjoyed it. I plan on teach my son spanish n having his father learn the language as well. I think I will be a really nice bonding experience for them

My kids are a mix of white and Hispanic I myself don't speak Spanish but my husband does. Both of my children  7 and 3 know Spanish and English, they both have learned around age 2 or 3 who they speak Spanish with and who they speak English with. My 3 year old sometimes forgets and will speak Spanish to my friends who have no idea what she's saying but she usually stops and switches to English. Right away there Spanish are basics so like the words yes, please, thank you, things like that which you can easily learn as well. Good luck. I don't have any problems with understanding my kids with them being bilingual. Good luck

I am in almost the same situation. Except its white/mexican. & I really want my baby to learn as well as my older daughter. Being bilingual is such a good thing. Besides that would be like him telling you he doesnt want her to know English... its a part of who she is :)

Kids are easier to understand than the grown native speakers bc it will be broken Spanish before anything just like she will speak broken English before full sentences. U will understand her. U mommy

It's a great ideal she will know two languages this will help her a lot in life. It's only selfish cause you are not thinking of the benefits for your child. U can learn as well in the process of him talking to her. But it is better if u stay speaking English to her and him Spanish to her until she can distinguish the two which will be around 2 or 3. I'm bilingual :)

It's really beneficial for the baby to learn Spanish and English..it will help in the future with an education and a career..I'm mexican so I want my baby to speak Spanish and I have a niece and nephew that don't speak Spanish and wish they did.

I think it's important to know her heritage and to have a part of that side of the family. I don't have any personal experience of this as my partner and I are both white with no other racial background and neither of us speaks another language. If it is important to your partner that your child speak Spanish then let him teach her. Best of luck
