is there any type of test for males ? regarding fertility and compatibility for multiple miscarriges

i had 1 still birth at 32 weeks in 2004  and 7 miscarriges i been seen by 4 different hospitals  and i just dont know what else to do
the 1st pregnancy isnt my partners it was my ex's kid!

than the rest of them the furdest we got was 16 weeks  now  proffesor bennet said that  there is no such test to  check if we are compatible

but i still find that hard to belive.  me and my partner been trying for almost 4 years   now  what  the proffessor said was that none of the 5 D&C's i had  have been sent to the lab to get tested for  chromosomal issues

proffessor mentined that i have to fall pregnant again  too see what happens  and if i loose it  and if they catch it on time they will send the tissues to the lab  to get it checked properly

is this risky i'm 25 yrs old now  i just turned! the proffessor thinks that  me been 25 now i have a better chance of having a sussess full pregnancy ?

would there be anything that they didnt consider ?

i dont have loupus
i dont have any type of anything wrong with me
i'm a beta thalasemia carrier

everything seems to be perfect  but 8 losses  is a bit much  i could handle another one just to find out  what is wrong  but more i dont think i could  can anyone help me  in any way  any idea  what i could ask the proffessor  when i see him next time i'm pregnant

Hi!
Is there any possibility that you could see a genetic counselor and high risk OB specialist?  You are absolutely correct that something is not right.

Two things that I can think of right off the bat--do you know if your partner is a thalasemmia carrier?  Or any other type of anemia/hemoglobin problem(eg. sickle cell)?  HE should definitely be tested too, as if you are both carriers this can cause major problems--the babies don't make blood cells and can not survive.

Also, I would want to test your karyotype and his too.  A karyotype is a test of your chromosomes and is what you are trying to find when you are asking for a compatability test.  If either one or both of you has a chromosome problem, that can cause lots of miscarriages.  By the way, I should warn you that these are very expensive tests!

If you were my patient, I would march you and him right over to the genetic counselor for a complete family history.  I would also want to double check for lupus, diabetes, and test your uterus for any problem like a septum (a divider in the cavity causing it to be heart-shaped). (The test is called an HSG) There are all kinds of technologies available to help you have a child if the cause of the problem can be determined.  It must be heart-breaking to have so many losses!

Be a little pushy and see if you can get a referral to a good specialist!

Good luck!

i had  an operation in my uterous  which i can never remember the name  to see if there was any divisions  in the uterous  and nothing they did find that my uterous is  flat at the top  which the doctor mentioned the name  which i also cant remember

Partner has been tested for thalasemia  and he isnt a carrier of  if but never had any more tests  the karyotype test  was mentioned but i dont think they have done it on ether of us

through a few of my pregnancies i had been taking aspirin and  fragmin 5000 which are the injections   and they  didnt help at all thats when  they found out i had a partial molar pregnancy and the one after that  i lost it at 10 weeks

i been to one of the genetics councellor and  all she delt with was my son's death and never worried about me afterwards :(

going through the hospital information  found that  i have had  a test which includes

HOMOCYSTEINE,PLASMA;ANCA;CARDIOLIPIN/B2GP1 ABS;TSH;FBCTHROMBOPHILIASTUDIES;PGM;EUC;LFT
RECURRENT ABORTIONS thrombophilia

i have not found anything about karyotype test on the papers i will call the doctor to find out

thanks so much
