loss of appetite

I'm 16weeks,n people told me normally ur appetite returns after the 1st trimester, but I'm still feeling nauseous at the thought of food n beginning to get worried about my baby,i don't want my baby to be born under weight,is this a possibility if my appetite doesn't return?

Hi!
IF you were my patient, I would try to reassure you not to worry too much.
Every pregnancy is different.  Babies are built to be parasites and they generally are quite capable of taking what they need from mom's system.  Mom can catch up sooner or later.  It is MOST likely that you will develop an appetite and be able to eat normally (if not better) soon.  If not, you may want to ask your doctor about the possibility of some therapy for GERD which can sometimes present as nausea. Prevacid or some of the other antacids can sometimes alleviate symptoms if needed.
It almost always gets better--hang in there!

im 13 weeks pregnant nad my morning sickness has pssed but i have no desire to eat any food. When i feel hungry i go to eat and nothing appeals to me and if i eat something that i dont really want it makes me ill. i don't know wat to do im afraid the baby wn't thrive if i can barely feed myself. Ona good note the things i do like t eat are mstly vegetables and slad... so that a plus. any ideas on wat i cn do to encourage my appetite?

I get very full easily too, feels like tummy about to burst just after a tiny bit of food, this fullness also triggers off the nausea for me...and thankyou to Dr B for your response,i will bring this up with my gp if it continues

I'm 16 weeks as well and just have no desire to eat. Plus I get full easy. My sis (who has 4 kids) said it might be because the baby is pressing on my stomach making it smaller.
