lower abdominal pain

I'm 5 weeks pregnant and I've been having mild to severe lower abdominal pain accompanied by lower back pain. No bleeding. It's been on and off and its even woken me up in the middle of the night. This is my 2nd pregnancy and I don't remember feeling this with my first child. Should I be worried?

Hi!
If you were my patient, I would check your pregnancy hormone level right now and then repeat it in 48 hours.  Depending upon what the value is, I would do an ultrasound as soon as possible to determine the location of the pregnancy.
I would also ask you questions about other reasons fo abdomeinal pain such as kidney/bladder infection or stones, or gallstones or pelvic infection, or appendicitis..
If pain is severe enough to wake my patients from sleep, I tend to take it pretty seriously.
Call your doctor!

hi! I'm 5 weeks and cramping on and off. I've had it with each pregnancy. It's normal unless it's extremely painfuland you're bleeding. :)

I'm having the cramping...nothing too major. I came on my period on time...according to my calendar..but are having most of the 4 weeks pregnant symptoms. Is it normal to have a full period? If so..what would cause it? My stress level is currently zero...???

I am 5 weeks 3 days pregnant and have been getting mild cramps too. It is just the uterus expanding :)

Im 4 weeks 3days and I have been having cramps as well. It really feels like im on my period minus the blood. I am even having those god awful but cramps. And I have been constipated lately. I haven't been taking anything for it to scared I might harm the baby but its not fun at all.

I went in a few days ago and the doctor did an vaginal ultrasound in which they could see the sac but not the baby... It is positioned in the uterus (which is good). Since there is no blood discharge she said that's a good sign but that she wanted me to get some blood work done (hcg count) n return. The ultrasound also showed a cyst n there was blood cells in my urine... so far possible diagnosis she mentioned were gallstones, kidney stones, n threatened abortion. As for the symptoms the lower abdomen pain has decreased and turned into severe lower back pain that comes and goes.

Did any of you get results? I got told by the doc when I went in because I was going through the same but not as severe as that just mild cramping here and there and he said it's just the embryo implanting to your uterus therefore you will feel little aches and pains here and there this is my second and I had no symptoms like this with my first I'm about 5wks and was worried as well mostly the aches in my belly were as if I needed to have a bowel movement, you have to think also your taking prenatals with iron in them therefore your going to be constipated as well so it's going to make everything feel achy and cramping feeling as long as no blood is involved then your perfectly normal going through the same thing as all of us where the embryo is just trying to attach, think of it as a zipper connecting:)

This is my first pregnancy and I am 4 weeks 3 days.  I have experienced this intense pain but mostly at night. It probably stays for a good 3-5 minutes, then wears off.  My Beta is great, it is going up.  I experienced this pain a bit throughout the day but also at night.   I have been drinking a lot of water and that has made me feel better but still have them.

I'm going through the same thing. It started yesterday and it woke me out of my sleep last night. The pain is radiating from my abdomen to my lower back but no discharge. IM 20 weeks. I have 5 fibroids so I was given Ibruprofen but it's not helping. I think it's time to go to the hospital!
