Omg thanks guys I seriously think I could use some of your ways
My husband and I have both our checks go into one checking account which we each have a debit card for. Our money is direct deposited. We have our bills set up automatically and then on the 15th of each month $2000 is automatically moved to savings... At the end of the month, after everything comes out, we also move whatever is left (minus $250 for misc expenses) into savings. We both work for out money (even though.my hubby makes significantly more than I) so we are free to spend what we need to, but try not to spend over $500 without first consulting the other person.
I give my bf my money too but he seems kinda stingy with his and I don't really ask him for much or money he's the one that's organized of doing a list if what we have to pay but that's why he stingy because we sometimes don't have any left to spent and now with baby on the way I feel stress
My husband and i pool our money and buy things for baby.
We have lists of things to help us organize.
+One list has our bills and when they are due
+ second list has our necessities for the month
+ third list has baby stuff
The first list of bills we know we have to pay 35$ for credit card payment and $50 car payment. So the first check we take that out right away. Then 20$ mandatory for gas money every week for him to get to work and back.
Then we use the rest of the first check for our necessities including : toilet paper, tooth pate, mouth wash, pads, body wash, shampoo, hair spray, all that good stuff.
Then if there is left over we have fun money to go out to eat, or date night, etc.
Then with the second check of the month we buy baby stuff.
Medicine, toys, clothes, diapers, wipes, etc.
That normally takes half the check.
The rest is fun money, shopping for work clothes, buying tools, going out to eat, getting hair cuts etc
The third check of the month is completely put into savings no fun money.
The fourth check normally covers other expenses, co pay for insurance, more
Anything if we Ran out. Craving money, it's like a cushion. We also pay a little more on the credit card if we can.
So either way, baby is paid for, bills paid for, toiletries taken care of, we have everything we need & still have a savings and fun money.
It's all about finding a balance!!!
Well I'm a stay at home mom. But when my bf gets paid we pay rent and whatever other bills we have then I take 100$ and hide it in our savings and it isn't allowed to be touched. Then whatever extra we spend. We're still working on it being our money haha because I still feel uncomfortable asking for money or just taking it and buying something. Its weird we live together and been together for 4 years its just weird to me. :/
I give my money to my husband and he deposits it in the bank account we started for our baby so that in a month or two we'll start shopping
When I was still working it was our money not his or mine. Its the same now that only he makes money
