multiple children .. increased pain?

I remember the pain after my third was horrible. I felt like I was in labor for the following week. Now having my fourth... Should I expect worse? Has anyone found methods to ease this??

yup they just keep on getting more painful, to me they feel worse than labour pains and I usually dread putting bub to breast as that makes them worse, but its usually over in around 3 days so I just grit my teeth, once I had to have pethadine, went through the birth without anything then had to have that!! now I'm usually given panadine forte, thats all they hand out at the hospitals here :)

Thanks ladies! Naproxen is already part of my regiment. I have something called interstitial cytosis so I'm hopeful I can plan ahead. :)

I have three but after each my dr prescribed me something for pain that was safe to take while breastfeeding.  I think number 3 was harder because I am so old! Lol  good luck

I have four children also. I was told that it's just after-pains. They are excruciating though!! I also have endometriosis so I think that contributes. The only medication that has ever helped me with severe cramping is naproxen. I'm not sure if you can take that if you're breast feeding. Breast feeding can also make the pain worse because your uterus contracts as you're nursing. The first week that I nursed, I kept a heating pad on my stomach. Talk to your doctor before the baby is born, and maybe they can prescribe something so you're prepared. Good Luck!
