my 11day old baby has diarrehea(sp?) help please!!!

So my baby has super yellow watery poop and it has caused her butt to become raw!!! Like super sore. Anyone know what can help the rash??? How does she get rid of the diarrhea?? She's had it for three days now. Could my breast milk be causing the pain and discomfort and diarrhea?? Should I just give her formula? Gotta wait till Monday to see her Dr  please help

Yes, if lactose is the issue, cut it out of your diet and continue breastfeeding! The milk protien in cow's milk is totally different from that in breastmilk so it's not the breastmilk itself that's causing the prob in that case and it's an annoying but easy fix. If you can, Google lactation consultants in your area, or get in contact with a lady from the la leche league, they will know just how to help you figure things out.

Agreed that if its a lactose thing you can stop dairy and that would work just as well as formula but thats up to you and if thats the actual problem.

She been using huggie swaddlers are those breathable? I put a towel under her and tried to let her "air out" but she is projectile pooping so I had to put a diaper back on her.

Also if milk is the problem, milk and soy gave my son problems, if you take it out of your diet it should do the trick.  A lot of times if an infant has problems with milk they also have problems with soy, its the protien, and they usually grow out of it by the time they turn one.

Earth's best makes a soy formula.  Also for her bum you could use coconut oil mix with equal parts of shea butter (each work individually too but together is awesome) just lather her bum after each diaper change.  This works wonders on my kids skin.  You should be able to get it all at a health food store, coconut oil you can get at any grocery store tho.  I get my shea butter on amazon.  Good luck

Nystain does work to heal the sore. But you have to kinda let air hit the rash so it will heal. The type of diapers can affect the way the rash heals. Make sure you are using breathable diapers such as Pampers Swaddlers, they may help.

Good luck Sweetie♥

I have wic she gets similac advance. I haven't givenit to her in six days though. If she's lactose intolerant should I get her a different kind? Like similac sensitive? Or similac isomil which is soy

She make be lactose intolerant and your breastmilk is high in milk protein. My son had diarrhea while I was breastfeeding and his pediatrician gave me a prescription for Enfamil Nutamegein and his tummy instant became better. The perscription was so it would be covered by WIC, its about $24 a can.

Although some Mothers may feel as if their Breast milk is the best milk for their Baby, sometimes you have to consider their health if their tiny bodies are rejecting it. Go buy the formula, and apply for WIC immediately. Its worth it ♥

I've tried butt paste, desatin and neither did anything. The Dr prescribed nystatin and it doesnt help either so I just coat her butt in Vaseline. I don't know what I'm eating to upset her belly but I hate knowing its my fault she's in pain.

Oh and DON'T put her on formula.. change up your diet first to see if that helps... try all you can before you decide to switch her to formula. Breast milk is the best thing you can give your baby!

She may have a sensitivity to your breast milk, try eating a little less dairy and soy, see if that helps with her loose stool. Breast fed babies are supposed to have yellow, seedy, soft/pasty stool. I always use Boudreaux's Butt Paste for my babies!

Aquaphor is what we use, works great.  You probably should call the pediatrician on call. A little one can become dehydrated very quickly from diarhea. Switching from the breast to formula can cause more tummy upset. I would ca and see what the dr reccommends.

Get some A&D ointment, Desatin or ButtPaste or something of the sort. It could be something you're eating. Have you eaten anything different lately?  If she keeps the diarrhea for long give her a bottle with some pedialite to keep her from getting dehydrated. Hang in there momma.
