ovarian cyst

i am a 21 year old female currently on birth control.. i went to my gyn following up after a bacterial infection. the day of my visit i was on my last day of my cycle. i complained to her that i had some bleeding about a week before my period. (nothing heavy, it seemed as if i got my period early, but it didnt last) so she had the tech perfom a transvaginal sono and a transabdominal sono. she said she saw a right cyst and a left adnexal mass and had me follow up in 10 days for a repeat. i'm really worried in the meantime and need some comfort. i never really had any pain in my lower abdomen but the reason i went on BC was because of sudden severe period cramps for the past year. i also recall fainting due to extreme pain on my lower abdomen in the past after sexual intercourse which resulted in soreness in my lower abdomen for the nest 3 days(2-3 years ago) is this something bad? should i worry? thank you very much.

u cant make ur own diagnosis but if uve had bleeding its best to see ur dr. it could be nothing. cysts r normal for women in their mentrual years my dr said. treatment depends on the size and type of cyst. see ur dr =)

I think that a cyst can be serious, if they get really big they can twist your ovary around and some types can cause problems with fertility...I was on BC when i was younger for this too. I always felt like someone was poking me in the right side of the pelvis. I haven't had any major problems since then. Once in a while I'll get a sharp pain on the same side, but it goes away pretty quick. I think you're doing the right thing by following up with the doc. They don't seem really concerned about them, but the CT scan will be great and will give you peace of mind.

Im worried about having a cyst. I have been bleeding for over 5 months now and by doing research on the web it leads to cyts and ovarian cancer. I have no idea what  to do. Do you think they will remove your cyst?

so i got my results today and i have a cyst on the right and left ovary. the right side is bigger she said. it measures 3.57cm. she didnt mention theleft side. she said it doesnt look like anything bad but she said if i want to have a CT to feel safe; which was odd. so she scheduled me for a pelvic & abdominal CT..

Cysts can be very painful. I had one on my left ovary when I was younger. It was on the larger side so they felt it needed to remove it. Now I'm 26 years old and doing just fine. I have a little tiny scar about this long --- other then that I like brand new. They will do what they feel is right. I wouldn't worry to much. Just try and relax until your appointment. Good luck and keep me posted.
