painful contractions at 21 weeks

So I have had contractions for three weeks.  Its weird my first two pregnancies I got nothing until a week before the kids were born.  I keep going in to get my cervix checked they say its fine. Then this week they started being really painful, I can't walk painful.  I went to the OB and she did the same check the cervix thing but its like, I don't understand how this will go.  I don't see how I can work when I doubled over in pain constantly.  Is that really ok for the baby? Seems pretty problematic.  Just wondering if someone else had this and it worked out fine.

Hi there sweetie.  Definitely call your ob and follow their guidance.  We can get braxton hicks contractions of 'false labor'.  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK470546/  These are less painful than true contractions, believe it or not.  If they checked your cervix and you aren't having true contractions, then this is the annoying braxton hicks.  There are triggers for this.  A very common one is dehydration.  Drink drink drink. At work ,can you take a break more often?  Can you lift less if you are lifting things?  This is a nice little article that talks about how to tell the difference between false labor and true labor.  https://www.webmd.com/baby/guide/true-false-labor#1  Let me know how you are doing!!
