If the miscarriage is complete ( in other words there are no pregnancy products remaining in the uterus ) the ultrasound will look normal and won't be able to detect a prior miscarriage.
If the miscarriage is incomplete and pregnancy tissue remains, then yes, an ultrasound could determine that there has been a miscarriage.

Hi there,
A pelvic ultrasound will be able to confirm if anything is in your uterus ( a sac,yolk or heartbeat) and also if there is any free fluid, or a tubal gestation. also a doc can do an internal and see if you cervix is open or closed..if your worried i would advise visiting ur local A&E department.
