If you think there is a possibility that he could be dangerous with your baby you should probably rehome him. I know that is much easier said than done. I love pit bulls and for the most part they are great dogs with kids, but when they make you nervous about your kids, its best to get rid of them instead of waiting to see if he will harm your baby. I had two pit bulls and one was the sweetest thing you had ever seen. He only got mean when someone was being violent in front of him or he didn't know you. He loved kids and other dogs. The other one was horribly mean. She hated everyone except for me. And hated other animals. You just have to do what you think is right.
Thank you and I think that the best thing for me to do is rehome him . I see how he is with other ppl and I can't take any chances . Thanks for your help and kind words.
Please whatever you do don't just drop him of with some family. You should visit their house and make sure it's good and safe for a dog. If I was you I would do random checks on him to make sure he's well taken care of and they're not neglecting him. You're a strong woman for doing this. I would back my eyes out if this even crossed my mind.
Yeah I won't just give him away to anyone . I will be extremely picky . I love my doggie . I will also only give him to a country home and a home without other pets and no kids
I have a male pitty as well he's very protective of me around people he doesn't know. I brought home my little guy but before doing that I set boundaries for my pitty. I made sure he knew whose toys were whose and also that he couldn't go into the baby room unless I was in there. Now they are seriously the best of friends and on walks duggi has to be right next to his buddy eli. Duggi lays outside Eli's room and knows he is not aloud to be in there unless I'm in there. He's actually calmed down a lot sense eli has come home. But I really encourage boundaries I'm a dog trainer so if you have any other questions email me about it. I work with a lot pitties with problems like this. Libby_101***@****
My dog was the same i let her lay her head on my preg belly and even had my mum bring her in the car when she picked me up from hospital ( she was on a short chain so she could see the baby but couldn't reach it ) i took my son home and let my dog come in the house and sit at my feet while i breast fed and i patted her head while i did it and when i was shore she was ok i let her meat bub on a chain so i had complete control. She ended up being my sons best friend for almost two years before she passed away. Don't give up on him just yet he may surprise you
Great idea . I think I will try and see if he gets along with baby . I love my pup and I Kno he trys to be a good boy. He's a rescue dog so he needs lots of training in some things . I deffinty don't want to give up on him. I'm gonna wait and see if we can make it work :) thanks every one for the support
