Still spotting 7 weeks after miscarriage

I had a m/c on June 7, I was almost 12 weeks but the baby stopped growing at 7 weeks. I hadn't passed anything and the dr. wouldn't do a d&e but had me takecytotec to induce the passage
Three days after my ultrasound showed an empty sak with a thicker lining. The dr. said it shoudl be fine and I should probably bleed for about 2 more weeks.  HCG has been checked every monday since and its going down but the past month..slowly. It was 93, 26, 17, and 9 just yesterday. They will do hopefully just one more check this coming monday.  I'm still spotting every few days. Sometimes for a few days in a row I'll have spotting and even light bleeding.  It stops and then starts again.

I'm just concerned that this isnt right....even though the nurse assures me that all is well since the HCG is going down.
I haven't been able to meet with the dr. since 6/11 to discuss things and when I asked to see the dr. the nurse just said it's not necessary lets give it another two weeks.

I really think my dr. should have explained this better to me because I'm feeling lost about what to expect and what not to...

Can you just please tell me if this seems okay and looks like it should soon be over?

I'd like to ttc again soon..but really dont know where to start. I do bbt..and my temps are very low and pre-o .
Do you think I will Ovulate in a few weeks if my levels go down to 5<?

THank you!

Hi,

I had an early miscarriage at just about 8 weeks.  I did have a D&E though as I never spotted or bled.  After the D&E I spotted for over 2 months.  I had my hcg followed the entire time.  It came down very slowly once the hcg level was under 50.  After over two months my hcg was below 6 and considered negative.  At this point, the spotting stopped and I resumed normal cycles.  I conceived again after two normal cycles.

Going through this was extremely upsetting for me.  It's hard enough to miscarry, but to spot and be reminded of it for over two months was torture.  I also wanted to conceive again, but was told that until the hcg is negative it's not really possible...though I was told to use contraception if I did not want to get pregnant as there is no guarantee.

I hope things go better for you, but it did take a long time for my hcg to be considered negative once the numbers were low.  Hope this helps.

Thank you Dr. Downing.
My dr. seems to think I had a period two weeks ago when i has some consistent bleeding for almost 5 days.

I don't really understand how that could be because my beta was still around 25 at that time..but I'm not a doctor.

Thanks again

Hello,

I'm sorry for your loss and hope this situation resolves soon.  Based on what you have written it sounds like things are headed in the right direction.  The hCG falling to less than assay (or <5) is reassuring.  Light bleeding for a few weeks is normal, however, the menses typically returns by six weeks.  If you are still having irregular bleeding I'd recommend you be seen by your physician.

With regard to making another attempt to conceive, I would recommend waiting until you have had the return of at least one normal menstruation.

Best of luck,

Dr. Downing

hi... first of all, i am sorry for your loss.
i have a question to ask you... i have been experiencing light spotting (red) once a day may be, for three weeks. with mild cramping and back pain.

i have always been irregular, cannot ovulate regularly...
i have been trying to concieve, but have not been successful.  i was on clomid, to help me ovulate, but had to stop because of water retention.

i took pregnancy tests and all came back negative.  what is going on?
any help will be greatly appreciated...
