placenta question

my 18 year old daughter went to the doctor  today and they did an ultrasound. they said her baby is developing to slow and her placenta is aging to fast. they are right about the date so i know she isnt later than where they say she is. they said she had the begining of pre-eclampsia but not bad. no high blood sugar or blood pressure. can anyone please tell me what this could be.
thanks
teena

If the placenta begins to deteriorate early, which is possible, then it will deprive baby of nutrients, thus the reason the baby is developing so slowly. They'll most likely have to perform induction or c-section as soon as safe.
