Sequential Screening

Did anyone get the results for their first set of blood work ?  My Doctor said they were fine and to go for the second set - but I remember reading other peoples results like 1 in 1000 - where mine are only in the hundreds... my sister told me the second set is what makes the number go up to the final result number.. but I am concerned... I go for my second blood work on the 9th... WORRIED!!!

Im 36 years old,the test is so recommended for older women.and women with history of problems,my results were 1/350 and my baby is perfectly fine.that level of numbers is considered low risk.im sure everything is fine.

I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry.  Before my test, I met with a genetic counselor and she said that they only recommend an amnio if it comes back as 1/50.  And even with a 1/50 odds.  Only ONE person out of 50 will have a positive result for something.  Meaning 49 of those women will get a negative result.

Thinking of you.

I received my first results back.  For me it was:

Downs = 1/5,804
Tris 18 and 13 = 1/10,000

I go for my second test on February 11th.  This second test, I'm only going to test for Spina Bifida, cause that's the only one that wasn't tested the first time.

I got my test results back a few days ago for downs syndrome is was 1/3,700 and for trisomy 18 the results were 1/10,000.  I believe the cut off is 1/220 for downs syndrom and 1/100 for trisomy 18 at my drs. office.  I hope this helps.  I wouldn't worry about it.  it seems that many people get high risk scores and turn out to have perfectly healthy babies.  The only reason I did it was for the ultrasound.

I NEVER knew the results of my test.  The doctor told me everything was good, and that's what I went with.  I actually think knowing those numbers will just add more stress than you need.  Just relax and have faith everything will be alright.  Knowing your numbers wont make a difference.  It's not like you can change them or anything.
