are they identical

Three months ago I gave birth to twin girls.  The ultrasound techs always said they were monozygotic and the pathology report on the placenta said it was a monochorionic diamnionic fused twin placenta, which my oby said meant they were identical and that is what I have read.  But I also read that results from  looking at the placenta are not always correct.  My questions then are how often are the placenta results wrong and does all this info in fact mean that they are identical/monozygotic?

Thank you

Thank you for your answer.  I guess it just must be me than.  My husband has trouble telling them apart, but to me they look like different.  Maybe it is because I am with them all day long.

Thanks again

Hi!
It is pretty easy to tell if a placenta is mono or di chorionic.  The membranes are almost as thick as cling wrap.  and there are more of them if they are di-chorionic.  I would say based upon what you have told me, that your girls are identical. They will actually be mirror images of each other!
By the way.  Congratulations!
Good luck!
