prenatal vitamins

hi there,
i was wondering if the prenatal vitamin i am taking can cause your urine to change odours? we are trying to get pregnant and are taking vitamins that our doctor suggested. i forgot to take them with us on our weekend away from home (as i had just started them and wasn't in the habit) i noticed a change in odour when i had started taking them but i had just come off birth control (which i was better at remembering about) and thought it was perhaps hormonal (my doctor agreed to that) however, after having a few days off and now starting up again i notice the return of this off smell. its just faint enough to notice. I was wondering if this is normal and i should continue...will it go away with use? or should i try another vitamin brand? i know some other vitamins dont all get absorbed into your body and are flushed out. could this be the case but just smelly?

I know that when I first started taking my prenatals it made my #2 dark green for a while.  lol  Sorry if that's TMI.  =D  The added vitamins can do different things to your body, especially if you're not normally taking vitamins or getting them via the food you eat.  Once your body gets used to it, it should go back to normal.

However, like Latrice said, try taking them at night ...they might not be absorbing fully into your body and the excess being excreted is causing the smell.  I switched to taking mine at night, but mostly to help prevent being nauseous during the day.  =D

This is just what i think, i try taking my vitamins at night to give my body time to absorb the vitamins.  What are body does not use, it will be excreted out because you may have to much of a particular vitamin in system. The vitamins i take has a high dose of everything, my urine smells like that slimfast stuff, lol.  I also take 800mcq of folic acid, my prenatal has 1000mcg so thats about 1.8mg of folic acid, once i get preggo, i was going to not take the extra folic acid, the overdose want harm me because what my body dont use it will get rid of.(not making a habbit of using xtra drugs bcuz some drugs can have a bad affect on you in high abundance.)

Yes, I think so... I never had any big problems.. but a few times mine smelled like Popcorn.. ewww.. lol, TMI sorry. But it never caused any other problems other than Nausea and worsening morning sickness.
