produce more milk?!

Haven't been on here much since my little boy was born. He's now 3 weeks old as of tomorrow. At first i wasn't having much trouble breastfeeding besides he didn't like taking to right one without the nipple shield. I would pump after he got done feeding but then he would wake right back up and want more right after i pumped. So last week i decided to stop pumping BIG mistake i think I'm trying to dry up now. Used to be when i would pump I'd get at least 2-3 ounces between both. Now i can't even get one. ): he still takes to both breast no problem but i have to have him on formula as well cause i can't produce enough milk to store it for when I'm gone and my mother watches him. So PLEASE help what can i do to make more so i can get him off formula?? I really don't want to dry up!

I agree with the others, try to stay away from the formula as much as you can as this will keep baby fuller for longer and that isnt what you want while trying to increase your breast milk, as the others have said, put bub to breast often and that will help, also make sure your having 1 full glass of water at every feed, as well as fenugreek , theres also mothers milk tea, and you can make lactation cookies as well, your breasts will produce enough milk for your baby and even if you feel your drying up, they probably arnt they will just be adjusting to the fact that you stoped pumping

There is a herb called fenugreek u can get it in tea or capsule form. I wil say the tea is so gross tho but u can add your own touch. Capsule u can get at walgreens for around 10bucks for 100 of um. You take about 3 a day n like the above post still feed baby every 2hrs from breast the more u do the more milk will come at night b sure to breastfeeding night feeding increases supply and if u formula do an ounce less then u normally would. in no time your supply will be back up ( : Good luck n glad u choose to stick with breastfeeding

Your milk works on a supply and demand basis. The more your baby feeds and you express, the more you will make. Feed him as much as possible when you are with him and when your not, try to pump as much and often as possible. The more regularly you do it the more you will produce. It will be hard work and may take a few days but you will get there if you stick to it. Try not to give him formula when you are with him. This happened with my second and it was really hard and tiring but after a couple of days started producing more. Good luck.
