protein and glucose in urine?

Hi! Today I went to the doctor because I have been itching like crazy, but my doctor is straight up with me and he told me that I have protein and glucose in my urine. I have had two uti’s in the past 2 months, I have been itching like crazy, I have been very tired, and my blood pressure is higher for a person of my size. I am 16, 5’7 and I weigh 130 lbs. My doctor told me it is not normal at all and I have to go back to get tested to see what is wrong but I am very curious as to what could be going on. Any ideas on what could be happeing? Thanks!!

Hi, I see you are 16.  Are you pregnant currently?  Or was this test of protein and glucose in urine from a regular non pregnancy exam?

When he say it's not "normal",  he means it's not "healthy".  It's not terribly abnormal for a pregnant woman to develop gestational diabetes - which is what it sounds like you have.  What did your doc recommend - a glucose tolerance test, or a fasting blood sugar test?
