quad test for down syndrome

My name is Socorro I'm 24  and  was 16 weeks pregnant yesterday with my 3rd child. I had a prenantal appointment monday and they did the quad test to check for down syndrome etc. yesterday I received a phone call from my OBGYN saying my results came back looking positve for down syndrome and I had to go in for more blood work that is being sent out of state we should know the results in about ten days. Please if anyone has had the quad test done how accurate was your results when you had the first and final test done to see if the baby does have down syndrome?  This is a very scary and sad time for my family and I.I would really appreciate any response.   Thank you.

They told my sister that my nephew would have down syndrome , he's 4 now and no signs of down syndrome (:

My niece was told over and over her baby was gonna have down syndrome even at the ultrasound so she was expecting a baby with downs when the baby was born he was healthy as can be. Good luck to u and baby.

The same thing happened to me, I had to go get more blood work done and a special kind of ultra sound. Results came back negative and baby is healthy I'm now 38 weeks + 1 day. I worried a lot til results came back though. Don't stress too much tho. Good luck with everything!!

At ur ultrasound they should be looking for signs of it so ask questions while your there

Yes I know .that is why I had to have the second test done because it will give a  definite answer.

It's not telling you babe HAS down syndrome,Its telling you there US a POSSIBILITY for it . Don't stress too much. You will find out more at your anatomy scan

Yes I have heard about that test having  false positives in many cases

I plan on keeping my baby but still going to worry about if my baby has down syndrome or not. I actually have a ultra sound today

When my mother was pregnant they told her I would have brain damage and I would be blind. Im prefectly fine, and I dont have any health issues. I hope everything goes as planned for your family!

If ur still going to keep the baby I wouldnt worry about it. In a few weeks you should be getting an ultrasound right? If it has downs they should be able to see it.

I have heard that those tests are very unpredictable and often give false positives. I didnt get it done for that reason and cuz i still would be keeping the baby no matter what.
