You may very well able to breastfeed. Only about 5% of women are not able to. You just have to keep trying & trying when baby gets here. It may not work for the first couple of days or weeks but I know someone who "couldn't" breastfeed from by what doctors told her but after 2 1/2 weeks of trying she was able to full on. Just dont give up so easily.

Message me if there are specific issues you're having. I have a fantastic breastfeeding book that I could use as a reference if you need some help. Breastfeeding is fantastic and I wish you all the luck in the world and hope you find a way to make it work!

Ooooh doulamommy breastfeeding books are amazing! Definitely read as much as you can go on pint rest, get books, watch videos on YouTube, talk to other breast feeders! I'm overloading with info because I don't want ignorance to be my excuse

My favorite is called "So That's What They're For! " ha I love it. It combines just enough humor not to read as a text book.

Well I couldent breastfeed my son either. Lets see so far my left nipple is in severe pain from her not being able to latch properly an my right nipple is sore an breast swollen cuz thats the only one she can use. My milk has not fully came in so im worried shes not getting enough she wants to latch constently an has barely had a wet diaper an only pooped small amounts..so I gave her a formula bottle.

If you have a pump then pump. I know it's hard and I really hope it works out for you. Get ahold of a lactation consultant and see if you can get her latch figured out. Good luck and I'm sorry if it seems we're too quick to judge. I've been blessed to have very few lactation issues and I can't pretend I know what you're going through. There is a breastfeeding community on this site that might be able to help you more than we can. Good luck.

Agreed with a lactation consultant. There are also videos on youtube that helps with latching. I wouldnt worry about the pump if nothin comes out just because some women plain amd simple dont respond to a pump. How long ago did you give birth? If it's just a latch issue its very easy to fix. I had tons of problems in the beginning until my milk came in. My daughter was lazy until my milk came in because she didnt want to work for the colostrum. I also had inverted nipples which is something that you have to work with.

Somethin that helped me with soreness is actually just sitting on the couch letting the "girls" breathe. Also using either lanolin and/or breastmilk helps. I understand soreness because at first when my daughter wouldnt latch the pump gave me blisters and I bled etc. Then her latch was fine. After a month for some reason she changed her latch after all the pain went away so it was like starting all over.

If you can wonderful,  if you can't then don't let others make you feel bad for not being able to or not making the choice to do it. Look at how many working mothers didn't and how many of their offspring are "normal". Breastfeeding is healthy but if you can't do it, you can't do it.

Best of luck I really hope you get this figured out! Good for you for trying so hard too. One suggestion: giving your baby a bottle right now might actually make her latch worse because artificial nipples take so much less work. Even if you have to give her a little formula while you work out her latch, maybe try feeding her with a spoon or cup or medicine syringe right now so she doesn't get nipple confusion.

Agreed and I felt bad personally the first week. I felt bad because it was the most natural thing and I felt like I failed myself and my daughter so I am not going to tell you to not feel bad or let down because I know I did and people telling me otherwise didnt help. I had the biggest pitty party for myself ever. Your being a great mom and doing what you can to keep your baby fed and healthy regardless if its breastmilk (colostrum) or formula.

Medicine syringe might be best or well thats what I hear is the best option when trying to feed baby when wanted to breastfeed. Keep your chin up and remember regardless your doing great.
