So I'm not the richest person in the world....it's so upsetting I can't buy all my baby's clothes on my own.. it may sound stupid but I'm 18 and still live with my mom and I bought like hundreds of used clothes from this one lady and it ***** but I feel like I'm going to be a horrible mom

Dont feel bad, we all have been /are in the same boat as you, there was a time after i had my first child that my husband lost his job, we had to sell his car, i had an accident and my car was totaled, all we had was a motorcycle so we couldn't take the baby anywhere, hubby and i had to eat ramen noodles just so our girl could have a decent nutritious meal and save to buy a car, but things got better for us, and it will for you too, financial problems dont make us bad parents, love comes from the heart not the pockets =)

I'm 19 and not working right now and my boyfriend struggles to pay bills on time till I cam go back to work. I'm due any day now and I haven't hardly purchased anything myself for the baby but I couldn't be happier! I've had people give me hand me downs and gently used bouncers, pack n plays, changing table and all kinds of things! It's awesome that I didn't have to buy everything because I was able to start a savings account (only 200$) so far but I would rather be able to spend my money on taking baby girl to the zoo or her first baseball game when she's here rather than buy an outfit for 20 bucks that she will only wear once oelr twice and not even know the difference of lol I know it seems frustrating but I promise that buying new baby items means absolutely nothing to the baby or how good of a mommy you'll be! :)

im sorry you feel that way. But , imean at least your baby has clothes . Just be grateful for everything you do have for her. Ipersonally dont really buy anything new since they grow it out so quick. The baby will need more love , care & attention more than anything.

Ya know, that stuff really doesn't matter.  My husband makes six figures and I save money where I can.  Rich people stay rich by being frugal.  :>)  I have a lovely used shop for clothing that I shop at all the time.  The thing about babies is that so much of what they have are used pretty infrequently.  They outgrow things fast.  There is no reason to spend gobs of money on baby clothes.  A new outfit for pictures, sure.  But I tell you, I've found so many reasonably priced things . . .   example----  outfit by nike for 4 dollars verses when I saw it in the store, it was 34 dollars.  I just washed it and happily dressed my son in it.

I have the money to buy but save what I can.

Now, at 18 though----  you DO need to be thinking of your future.  What are you doing for education or job training.  This should be a top priority.  Young women MUST educate themselves in this day and age.  Hourly jobs that hover around minimum wage or even into the teens do not pay the bills.  so, you have to think long term for what you want to do.  There are so many grants to pay for college, community college and trade school these days that it is so important to take advantage of that.  Paralegal is an example I'll give you.  This program takes about a year and a half of part time classes (like two to three days a week for 3 hours taken in morning, afternoon OR night).  Once you complete the program which costs about 6,000 dollars and again, grants can pay for the whole thing if you have income issues--- but once you have the degree done, you are able to begin looking for jobs.  Paralegals make between 40,000 to 60,000 a year!

So, think of what you want to do and get a plan in place.  NOW is the time.  good luck
