Volvo if you can find one in that price range, Subaru, Toyota, Hyundai.
I agree with anniebrooke.. Nissan Is very reliable as well.. thats all i have driven and have had no problems.. just traded my old one in for a new one and love it. Alot of my friends have had problems with their hyundais.. breaking down on them a lot but the newer ones are more reliable.
The newer Kia's are actually nice, reliable, and come with some nice safety features. I just got a 2012 Kia Rio 4 door (not hatch back) last year. I love it. Their prices are nice too. I just decided to do a lot of research before I chose a car!
We're getting a volkswagon toureg, theyre a small suv and depending where you are im sure you can find one around 5000
Dodge calibers are super cute :) and inexpensive
@AnnieBrooke, how roomy are Volvos though? I did find a few in my price range.
Depends on the model. The wagons are great for space. They are solid as the rock of Gibraltar in a crash, but some are more fussy than others in terms of repair, so be sure to get the repair history if you're buying from a private seller.
Pontiac grand-am great gas mileage roomy 4 door car safe and still looks sleek and sexy... and you can find good used ones with a lot of miles on them still for half of the price you are getting so you can buy more baby stuff :)
We just got a kia sedona ex ( I know your prob not into vans.) This past week its a 2004 so still newer it was 5000.
Its very nice leather,DVD player the seats move in so many directions it can make you dizzy lol. I can not afford an SUV and in the past ours had tons of problems! On top of gas!
So we went with a van I was skeptical at first but it has so much space.
And will fit a family of five!
My toddlers love it :)
Im a Ford person myself but will concur to how awesome Volvos are. There is a reason they dont have to advertise much lol.
What about a ford fusion?
some SUV are 6v or 8v and waste alot of gas ... hondas and toyotas are usually 4v i have a camry its spacious for my three girls (4.3 and 18 day old) i can go on 20 dollars the whole week...;)
