When I weaned my firstborn I did NOT get engorged. I started pumping and gradually pumped less and less until I stopped pumping altogether.
Thanks ladies, I am going to see her Ped today to talk about it. I have been told by several people not to wean cold turkey because it is likely to cause infection/abscesses in the bb's. I am okay with weaning, just need to know the best way to do it to take the best care of both babies... we'll see what the doctor says!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! That's so exciting! Wishing you a great 9 months :P
Just wanted to say Congrats girl!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats! I would wean. My doctor recommended replacing a feeding every week, but you might be able to do it every few days (at the time, my daughter was feeding like 8-9 times a day still). Besides her adjusting to the formula, the other problem could be constipation. Maybe call your pediatrcian and see the what they say.
6 months is a great length of time for breastfeeding. You may feel guilty but you'll be giving your daughter a little brother or sister, which is priceless!
Congrats, BTW!
Thanks ladies.... I feel like it is such a hard decision for us to make, I appreciate you weighing in.
Congrats Cheesecake!
I would wean! Some of the formulas are fabulous, so I wish you luck with weaning & the pregnancy, please keep us posted!
Oh hun, i am so sorry that you have to make this decision, but i agree with worriedbabe about trying to wean/cold turkey your daughter from feeding and try to substain this pregnancy!
hang in there hun
it's your decision. personally, i'd go for sustaining the pregnancy and weaning your daughter cold turkey. sure, it might be hard work and you may have some teething problems...but that way you don't risk a life.
