shooting pains in left rib under breast and back area

I am 23 weeks pregnant started with my back above my left kidney hurting.  I thought I had a UTI.  Then this weekend the pain became a shooting pain that would come and go and start in the back on the left side and come up right under my breast in front.  The pain gets so severe I want to throw up and I can't breath.  My husband has tried streching me, rubbing the areas and nothing seems to work except time.  Seems to get worse right after I eat or drink something.  Did anything like this happen to you guys?  I was wondering if this was my ribs spreading but I didn't have this with my first kid.  Any advice apprectiated.

I know that when I was pregnant i got extremely horrific gas pain up in my ribs that hurt so bad I couldn't breathe and would throw up. They would sometimes be so high up that they would even feel like they were around my heart. It was kind of freaky until I realized what they were. =] Hope this helps.

My advice would be to call your doctor first thing in the morning. Rib pain, especially severe rib pain that doesn't ease with a change of position or that isn't obviously a stitch in your side....can be an indication of something serious.

OR..it could be rib pain. No biggie. So the only way to know will be for your doctor to check a few things out...you need to call your doctor first thing, OK?
