hello
i underwent circlage at about 16th week. im currently in bed rest. doctor adviced me not work and strain myself. but i get panic if i have any abnormal feeling in my tummy. which kind of pain is very dangerous that has to be reported to my gynec?
is there any risk after the circlage is done? i would like to know whether there is more possiblity for normal labour? will it lead to a c-section?
is nt it possible to turn to normal day to day life after the circlage. i have lot of doubts.
can i climb stairs? can i travel?
I lost my first child due to an incompetant cervix then with my second child I dialated at about 20 weeks got a circlage and bed rest... he was born huge and healthy at 36 weeks.. Also had circlage before I dialated with my third child ( at 13 weeks) with orders to stay off of my feet as much as possible and again had a healthy baby at 36 weeks ( both pregnancies induced due to gestational diabetis).
I am again pregnant and had my circlage 3 weeks ago at 12 weeks...we will see how it turns out. I am a huge advocate of the circlage... although Physicians do debate on if it is helpful... I belive it is.
Best of Luck
I to was pregnant with twins and my scervix shortened I was 14 weeks. The doctor put in a surcloge in the earlier part of December my twins where not due til April 29. I was on strict bedrest with a weekly Docotors appt. to see if my cervix changed any unitl I had them. I delivered on March 6th but everything was alright with the boys they only stayed in the hospital for two weeks.
Hello,
Yes, a cerclage is an option. However, your doctor is right, there is no clear evidence that placing one is any better at preventing a delivery <34 weeks than simply maintaining bed rest and pelvic rest. Talk with your physician more and know there is no right or wrong answer. Proceed in a way that you are comfortable with.
Best regards,
Dr. Downing
