sleep position

I am 21 weeks pregnant. I do this anyway. But why is it so important to lay on your left side when sleeping?

My doctor told me it was because all your main blood arteries are on your right and it helps with the flow to your heart! I sleep better on my right side but you will feel the palpitations which drive me nuts and I eventually turn onto my left side! Get a special sleeping pillow from Babies R Us it has helped me a lot and I am 22 weeks pegnant. Good Luck

You'll feel the difference when the baby gets bigger. It helps the blood flow so your heart doesn't have to work as hard. Sometimes you can feel palpitations and just feel like crap until you roll over. I would have to switch sides though because my left hip would start hurting so bad.

It's something to do with the blood flowing easier to a main artery in the heart...something along those lines
