started bleeding at 6 weeks of pregnancy

hi,
I found out that i am 5 weeks pregnant but on 6 week i started bleeding, first day it was a light pinkish spot, second day it turned to be blackish and now i started bleeding just like it happens in periods but i dont feel pain at all, i am bit worried and scared, i have consulted with doctor, they said sometimes its normal in some cases or if u r continuously bleeding for 7 to 8 days then it was a early miscarriage, i dont know what to do.

Hi!
Congratulations!  I am going to say exactly what the other doctor said.  Sometimes it can be completely normal, but if you start cramping, bleeding heavily or passing large clots then it is likely to turn in to a miscarriage.  If you were my patient, I would have you come in for blood tests and an ultrasound.  If your pregnancy hormone level is doubling every 48 hours, then the pregnancy will probably continue.  If the hormone levels are dropping, then it is not good news.  Likewise, if the ultrasound shows a fetal pole and heart beat then most likely you will be OK.  If not, it might mean that the pregnancy is not developing normally.  In most instances miscarriages are "for the best" because usually the pregnancy isn't healthy or normal.  A normal, healthy pregnancy will survive and continue to develop in most cases.  I hope so in YOUR case!
Good luck!
