baby maybe?

hi, i am very new to this so please bear with me! um...me and my husband have been trying for a baby for a while, for like 8 months. well, as far as my periods have gone i think ive only missed 2 in my entire 4 or 5 years of having one, so i am pretty regular when it comes to having one. well, my last period was in march, a round the 13 or 14. i havent had on since, i didnt pay too much attention to it til now so sorry i dont have all the facts. i went all through april with nothing not even realizing it, i think i remember my breasts being sore at the beginning of the month and after they stopped completely forgot about my period not coming. It is now may 28, i have been neauseated for what feels like forever, everyday for almost three weeks now i cant even think of certain foods without getting queazy. also, i am eating things ive never liked before, and craving meat and candy! also, i have gotten headaches alot lately, really tired (i try to sleep all the time!!! lol), and i cant sleep some nights. also, i am very bloated and my breasts are getting huge! i gone up a size i think. but they dont hurt! also, for the past 3 days i have had some spotting, very dark brown blood and not a lot at all, only when i wipe. i dont know if i should wait or take a pregnancy test. i am kind of scared to take a test because in my family they dont usually work (my sister took 6 with my niece all neg, my mom had to have an altra sound) and if i should wait how long?

Hello,

If you think you might be pregnant take a home pregnancy test.  Home pregnancy tests differ in their sensitivity (i.e., the ability to detect the hormone of pregnancy when it is present).  The most sensitive of these are First Response Early Result and Clearblue Easy Earliest Results.  The earliest either of these might detect a pregnancy would be at the time of the missed menses (generally ~two weeks after conception).  When a HPT administered at the time of the missed menses returns negative it is recommended to repeat the test in a one week.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing

I don't think I am pregnant but I've had these strange events taking place lately. At first I thought I was just ovulating, I usually feel it only in my right ovary... but then the strange ovary feeling didnt really go away. I felt like a pressure/slight pain thing especially when I sat on the toilet or when I would step with my right leg. This lasted for about a few days but I didn't say anything because it wasn't too painful, just weird.

Then when I had sex with my husband it hurt on the right side deep inside, like my cervix? It was strange because I never experience pain with sex. Again this pain seemed to be in the same area as my ovary type discomfort.  Also, this feeling didn't hurt extremely, I was able to finish having sex and then later told my husband it hurt on my right side. He was confused. I am confused.

I have been trying to get pregnant for 2 years, I have irregular cycles and NEVER know when and if I'm actually ovulating... I just took a pregnancy test on July 1st and it was negative. My last period was June 13th it was normal in length and heavy-ness. I have had very sore breasts for about 10 days now and my period isn't due until sometime between July 13-25 (again I am irregular so I never know exactly when I will have it)

What do you think? Am I pregnant? If I am why didn't the test say so. I am so lost. I have never experienced these kinds of symptoms/feelings before...  I WANT to be pregnant SO much and I am afraid my subconcious is making me think these things are pregnancy related.

If they aren't because I'm pregnant then what the heck is going on with me??

I know the odds of being pregnant and having normal periods and a negative test are really low. But lately I am wondering if that is the case... or if I'm just desperately seeking a way to be pregnant.

An HPT is usually detectable when you're about five weeks pregnant. You are much farther than that, you're probably closer to 10 weeks. You can definately take a urine test, and probably hear a heartbeat by now if you were to geet an appt with a clinic. (which is a very good idea at 10 weeks). If you don't want to know you're pregnant, they why do you ask? That's a pretty late period. Take the test, there's nothing wrong with you

thank you so much for answering so quickly. i think right now i am to scared to test, mainly b/c if its neg. than that means there might be somthing wrong with me and i dont have insurance (newly wed, we cant afford it) so i cant just go to the doctor and find out. and if it says pos. then im scared b/c that means im going to have a freakin BABY!!!! but i will be xcited, of course. this will be my first and that scares me. sorry, not tryin to just make excuses!!! im going to get one tomorrow though, will i be far enough along to just take it when ever or would it still be better to wait until tomorrow morning?
